NEWSFLASH: LAGOS CP LANRE ISHOLA REMOVED AMID LAGOS STATE SPEAKERSHIP CRISIS

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has removed Commissioner of Police Lanre Ishola from his position in Lagos State, appointing Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as his replacement. The decision comes as tensions continue to rise over the leadership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Earlier on Monday, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Police Force sealed the offices of Speaker Mojisola Meranda, her deputy, and the Clerk of the House. The action is reportedly linked to the ongoing dispute following the impeachment of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on January 13, 2025.

Obasa, who was out of the country during his removal, has since challenged his impeachment in court, seeking reinstatement. His supporters argue that the process was illegal, further fueling the crisis in the Assembly.

The appointment of CP Jimoh is seen as an effort to restore order. He previously served as the Commissioner of Police at the Ports Authority, Eastern Ports, and has held key positions, including Force Public Relations Officer and Deputy Commissioner in various departments.

With security forces maintaining a strong presence around the Assembly, legislative activities remain suspended, and the political tension in Lagos continues to escalate.
