What started as a routine visit for a burial performance turned into an unforgettable moment for King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate), as the legendary Fuji musician was unexpectedly honored with the prestigious chieftaincy title of Balogun of Ilupeju-Ekiti.
The Apeju of Ilupeju-Ekiti, Oba David Awe Akingbade, alongside other traditional leaders, conferred the title on K1 De Ultimate in recognition of his remarkable contributions to Yoruba music and culture, as well as his ancestral connection to the town—his mother’s hometown.

The honor, which took the Fuji maestro by complete surprise, was witnessed by top dignitaries, community elders, and excited residents, who erupted in celebration as the musician accepted the title.

A SHOCKING GESTURE OF GRATITUDE: K1 DONATES HOSPITAL & VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER

In an unprecedented act of generosity, K1 De Ultimate stunned the community by donating a fully equipped hospital and a vocational training center to support healthcare and skill development in Ilupeju-Ekiti.

The hospital will provide essential medical care to residents, reducing their need to seek treatment in far-off cities, while the vocational training center aims to empower young people and women with life-changing skills for economic growth.

Speaking after his installation, a visibly emotional K1 De Ultimate expressed his deep appreciation for the surprise honor and reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Ilupeju-Ekiti.

"I only came here to perform at a burial, but what I am leaving with today is beyond my wildest imagination. This is my mother’s hometown, and it holds a special place in my heart. This title is a responsibility, and I will continue to support my people in every way I can," he said.

The Apeju of Ilupeju-Ekiti, Oba Akingbade, praised K1’s unwavering dedication to Yoruba heritage, describing him as a true son of the soil who has used his global influence to promote culture.
