DOUBLE TRAGEDY HITS TARABA GOVERNOR’S FAMILY: SISTER SHOT, DRIVER COLLAPSES
Tragedy has struck again in the family of Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, as the driver of the governor’s mother reportedly slumped and died upon hearing the news of the death of the governor’s sister, Atsi Kefas, who was a victim of accidental police gunfire.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday at T.Y. Danjuma House in Abuja. A source present at the scene said the driver, identified simply as Abraham, collapsed after shouting in shock upon receiving the tragic news.
The source revealed that Abraham, an indigene of Wukari—the governor’s hometown—had driven the vehicle in which Atsi was struck by a bullet during an accidental discharge along the Wukari-Kente route on December 5, 2024. Abraham had been serving as a driver in the convoy of the governor’s wife since Kefas assumed office in 2023.
Miss Atsi Kefas, the younger sister of Governor Kefas, was reportedly shot in Kente village, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, and died at a private hospital in Abuja two days ago. According to some reports, she was traveling last Thursday with the governor’s mother, Jumai Kefas, when they were attacked by gunmen. In the confusion that ensued during the attack, a police officer assigned to escort the family accidentally shot Atsi while attempting to fend off the assailants.
