SPORT: VICTOR IKPEBA STORMS ONDO STATE FOR AKOGUN ANNUAL FOOTBALL COMPETITION
This year Akogun Annual Football Competition Petition starts on Tuesday 25th June, 2024 with 20 teams across the Ondo North Senatorial District of Ondo State. The Final comes up on Friday 2nd August 2024 at Ojomirin High School Agba, Oka Akoko.
Akogun Olugbenga Omole speaking on this year's competition, said this competition started in 2018, 7 years precisely though the competition was not held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it has been single-handedly sponsored by him. Speaking further he said, the idea is to discover young talented youth who have a passion for football and that is my way of empowering them and keeping them busy.
Akogun annual football competition is an avenue for young and aspiring youth to meet and relate with prominent footballers in Nigeria. This year's edition will feature Ex-Super Eagles Player, Victor Ikpeba an Olympic Gold Medallist and former African Footballer of the Year will storm Ondo State with renowned Football Scouts namely; Dapo Sotuminu, Paul Ojo and Attah Udia on Thursday 1st August, 2023.
Activities to mark the 6th edition of the Akogun Annual Football Competition include a press conference, a visit to selected media houses and a courtesy call on the Governor of Ondo State.
