A lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Kadiri Akeem Babalola is in the middle of a rape allegation by an undergraduate student.
Babalola was accused of molesting a 20-year-old student (name withheld) on August 16 2023. When she went to his office for assistance with her results.
The lecturer who is an Associate Professor of Botany instead of helping the young lady, the report said, violated her.
Speaking to an NGO, Inclusive Social Welfare and Empowerment Foundation, the victim said Babalola forcefully had canal knowledge of her.
The NGO, however, informed the Gender Unit of the state police command, leading to the involvement of the state CP, Idowu Owohunwa. Who issued a warrant of arrest for Babalola through the state High Court.
The Vice Chancellor of UNILAG was also contacted and given a seven-day ultimatum to produce the accused.
According to the NGO, the lecturer admitted to the crime after being called in by the Vice Chancellor for questioning.
The Vice-Chancellor then immediately notified the police via the university’s chief security officer, which led to Babalola’s arrest.
