Leading world-class International School, Grenville School, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, held its 2023 graduation dinner and valedictorian ceremony on the 16th and 17th of June 2023.
The colourful event, which was held in the School hall, had parents, special guests, staff members and well-wishers in attendance, and they were treated to educative and entertaining top-notch sessions.
During the dinner, Prince Olajide Babalola, the founder and Chairman of Grenville School, could not hide his joy as he applauded the graduating students for their good conduct and excellent performance in their studies.
Also, the parents of the graduating students were proud of the sterling performance of their wards and the great impact the school had on them.
In his speech titled, “Making Every Moment Count”: the Chairman of the school, Prince Olajide Babalola charged the students to be prepared for the challenges ahead in other for them to excel in the next phase of their lives.
Speaking further, he said: “Time is a priceless and invaluable asset given to us by God. Every moment we live is worth appreciating God for- our health, the progress and success we are making, the joy we share with family and friends and much more, we give God all the praise”.
“Our lives are made up of various moments; planned and unplanned events that have shaped the course of our lives and will continue to do so. Some days are special, like today, while some other days seem ordinary, but in life, any day can become memorable for good or bad”.
Stating that “moments that count do not always come with special labels, rather they are offshoots of occasions that have become phenomenal to us. Therefore, preparing for such a quantum leap can only be a regular, concerted effort and an intentional act. Yes, we have to be intentional about making our lives count for good”.
Like the saying goes “There is time for everything, time for work, time to play, time to be happy and to be sober –life certainly has its ups and downs”.
“He who fails to plan has planned to fail, plan your time, plan your resources, plan special days and always put in your best effort, stay positive because sometimes things will not work out the way we planned and when they don’t, just stop and think, adjust and keep moving”.
Prince Olajide advised the graduating students to make every moment count and urged them to follow the 5 steps which are: Planning daily/weekly/ monthly, putting in our best at every task, being positive, being humble and teachable and reflecting and making adjustments where necessary.
“On the contrary, leaving our lives to chances will not bring us the good that we desire nor will it lead us to success, we have to be intentional about our success and make every moment count”.
In his final word, He recognizes Koby, the outgoing head boy for winnings the Mobo Jam games, saying the school is proud of him and commended him for the effort that he put into the competition.
He advised the students to shun vices like drugs, bad friends, dishonesty, cyber-crimes and all vices that will certainly lead to the destruction of life.
He went on to pray for them that they draw positive energy from all they have learnt from Grenville School and continue to live out the motto of the school, which says” trust in God; excel and lead”.
