APPOINTMENTS: APC YOUNG WOMEN GROUP HAILS PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU

The APC Progressive Young Women Forum APC-PYWF has commended President Bola Tinubu for his decision to appoint women to key positions in his cabinet.

This move, according to the National President, Osamaye Seun Bosede is not only a step in the right direction, but it also serves as an affirmation of the importance of gender equality in Nigeria’s society.

The group believes that this move will help to create a more equitable and just society, where women can have a more meaningful role in the country’s decision-making process. 

The APC-PYWF also noted that this move will provide women with more opportunities to lead in their respective fields and to have their voices heard in the country’s political discourse. 

The group expressed its gratitude to President Tinubu for his decision and for his commitment to making Nigeria gender-equal. It also praised the President for not just appointing women to key positions in his cabinet, but also for ensuring that women are given a fair chance to participate in the country’s decision-making process. 

"We are grateful to Mr President for his commitment to equality and women's empowerment, as we urge state Governors to follow suit in the appointment of more women to leadership positions. We believe that through such appointments, Nigeria will continue to make strides towards achieving gender equality" Osamaye said.

Two women who made the list of key appointments announced by the President on Monday were Mrs. Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser, Energy. She was an Advisor for the Energy for Growth Hub. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the gas and renewables sectors across Sub-Saharan Africa and Dr (Mrs.) Salma Ibrahim Anas, Special Adviser, Health. She has over twenty-five years of experience in Health Sector Development. She has experience in health sector policy formulation, strategic development, resource mobilization and implementation of various health programmes at international, regional and national levels.

The group concluded by urging the President to continue his efforts in creating a more equitable and just society, where women are given equal opportunities to lead and participate in the decision-making process
