Here is a wonderful woman who has traversed the aspects of life and yet impacted her world with great deeds and leaving beautiful traces of successes. Mrs Akinwumi typifies an accomplished professional and mother model who is worth distinguished accolades on the home front, which is why her birth is an event the world is hailing.
Born to the Family of Reverend Manoah Adeniran Fabuluje and Mrs Beatrice Ibirinade Fabuluje of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, the paragon called Engr. (Mrs) Akinwumi Dorcas Oluwawemimo started her Education at a very tender age. She attended St. Peter’s C.A,C. Primary School, Owo for her Primary Education before moving on to Owo High School and New Church Grammar School both in Owo for her secondary school’s education where she graduated in the year 1988.
Engr. (Mrs) Akinwumi gained Admission to study Agric-Economics at the then Ogun State University now Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State in the year 1989 but because of her passion for Engineering Profession, she obtained Jamb form that same year and was admitted into the Federal University of Technology to study Civil Engineering and graduated in the year 1997. She did her Compulsory NYSC at Mada Hills Secondary School in Akwanga, Nasarawa State. She bagged her Masters in Civil Engineering in year 2011 in FUTA.
Presently in pursuit of a Doctoral degree, She had worked in various Civil Engineering Consultancy firms across and outside the State, she also serves in the Capacity of External Moderator to Civil Engineering Department of Tertiary Institutions within and outside the State. She joined the Service of the Ondo State Civil Service in the year 2010, where she is still working till date, she is currently the Deputy Chief Resident Engineer in project office of the Ondo State Ministry of works and infrastructure.
It may be of interest to note that she is the first female to assume the post of Deputy Chief Resident Engineer (DCRE) of the ministry in the history of the State, even from the era of the then Western State. She is currently the Vice Chairman of Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Akure chapter. She is also the Matron of Civil Engineering Students’ Association, Futa Branch.
Engr (Mrs) Akinwumi is a member of many Professional Bodies and Association: Registered Engineer member of Mnice,The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN); The Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE); Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN); Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE).
Akinwumi Oluwawemimo Dorcas has served in various committees Constituted by NSE, viz: Member, Road Safety Campaign Committee November 2012, Member, NSE 2015 AGM Hosting bid committee, June 2013; Member Community Impact Project Committee 2013; Member Investiture committee of the branch Chairman 2015; Cordinator of engineers’ spouses forum 2015 to 2016; Chairman, Engineering week entertainment committee 2018, among others.
Engr. Akinwumi Dorcas is the one who would never give up on a girl-child, she competed and excelled where men to hold sway. A staunch member (Deaconess) of RCCG and she is married to Mr. Akinwumi Ademola, an officer serving with Federal Road Safety Commission The marriage is blessed with choicest children. Her hobbies include reading, travelling, meeting with people and creating fun.
