NESTLÉ NIGERIA OPENS 2026 MEDIA AWARDS, ANNOUNCES NINE CATEGORIES

Nestlé Nigeria has opened entries for the sixth edition of its Media Awards, inviting journalists and media professionals across the country to submit outstanding reports published between November 1, 2025, and October 30, 2026.

The awards recognise journalism that promotes public understanding, highlights solutions to societal challenges and examines issues affecting individuals, communities and businesses.

Since its introduction, the initiative has recognised reporting on themes aligned with Nestlé Nigeria’s Creating Shared Value agenda, including nutrition, agriculture, environmental sustainability, youth and women empowerment, and community development. The Business and Economy Reporting category was introduced in 2025 to recognise journalism examining challenges and opportunities within Nigeria’s business environment.

Speaking on the 2026 edition, Victoria Uwadoka, Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability at Nestlé Nigeria, said the awards seek to encourage accuracy, depth, balanced perspectives and reporting that serves the public interest.

“Excellence in journalism requires more than telling a compelling story. It demands accuracy, depth, balanced perspectives and a commitment to the public interest,” she said, reaffirming the company’s commitment to recognising integrity and thoughtful reporting.

This year’s competition features nine categories: Nutrition and Affordable Food Solutions, Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment and Development, Women Empowerment, Community Development, Finance, Agriculture, Business and Economy Reporting, and Photojournalism Award.

Except for Business and Economy Reporting, entries must focus on Nestlé Nigeria or the company’s global activities and demonstrate a clear connection to the relevant award theme.

The Business and Economy Reporting category is open to stories exploring Nigeria’s wider business environment, including entrepreneurship, economic policy, access to finance, infrastructure, competitiveness, and issues affecting enterprises of different sizes. Entries in this category do not need to focus on Nestlé.

The competition is open to media professionals working across print, broadcast and digital platforms in Nigeria. Each submission must include a link or copy of the published work, a profile of the entrant or media organisation of at least 100 words, and a 100-word description of the entry.

A published work may be submitted in only one category, although participants can submit one entry in each category.

Entries opened on Wednesday, October 14, and close on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. Interested journalists are required to submit their work through the official 2026 Nestlé Nigeria Media Awards Entry Form.

An independent panel of experienced media and industry professionals will assess submissions based on accuracy and balance, depth, originality, relevance and storytelling quality.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony scheduled for December 13, 2026, in Lagos, where outstanding journalists will be recognised across the nine categories.
