JTI NIGERIA MARKS 18 YEARS, REAFFIRMS ECONOMIC COMMITMENT

Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Nigeria has marked the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary by reflecting on its 18 years of operations in Nigeria and reaffirming its commitment to contributing to economic growth.

The company said its presence in Nigeria over the past 18 years has been shaped by its business activities, workplace development and engagement with employees, partners and other stakeholders.

Speaking on the anniversary, Abdallah Simba, General Manager, JTI Nigeria, said the occasion provided an opportunity to recognise Nigeria’s progress while acknowledging the resilience of its people.

“Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the country’s progress and the resilience of its people. We are proud to have been part of Nigeria’s story for 18 years and remain committed to conducting our business responsibly, supporting our employees, and contributing meaningfully to the country and our stakeholders,” Simba said.

JTI Nigeria said it has also continued to focus on building a diverse and inclusive workplace, with emphasis on respect, equal opportunity and employee development.

The company said its next phase in Nigeria would focus on strengthening its contribution to the economy and creating sustainable value for employees, business partners and other stakeholders.

The anniversary comes as JTI Nigeria continues its operations as part of Japan Tobacco International, a global tobacco and vaping company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

JTI International operates in more than 130 countries and has about 47,000 employees worldwide.

For JTI Nigeria, the Independence anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on its 18-year journey in the country while outlining its intention to remain engaged in Nigeria’s economic and business environment.
