VERVE, GOOGLE PLAY RENEW PARTNERSHIP AS VERVELIFE 9.0 BUILDS TOWARDS LAGOS FINALE

The intersection between digital entertainment, fitness and lifestyle is creating new ways for brands to engage consumers, with VerveLife expanding its platform beyond traditional fitness activities into a broader community experience.

Against this backdrop, Verve has renewed its collaboration with Google Play for the ninth edition of VerveLife, themed “Ignite,” as the annual fitness and lifestyle experience continues its 2026 tour across Nigeria.

The renewed collaboration brings together digital engagement, fitness, entertainment and lifestyle experiences, building on the partnership between both brands during VerveLife 8.0 in 2025.

VerveLife 9.0 began in Ikorodu on August 15 and has since moved through Ibadan and Enugu. Upcoming stops include Surulere and Uyo, ahead of the grand finale scheduled for November 21 at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Through the partnership, Google Play will support the VerveLife experience with digital engagement, rewards and lifestyle benefits for participants.

The relationship also extends beyond VerveLife. Verve and Google have worked together since 2023, when Verve enabled Nigerian consumers to use its cards for eligible purchases on Google Play, with transactions processed locally in naira.

According to Cherry Eromosele, Executive Vice President, Group Marketing and Communications, Interswitch Group, the renewed partnership reflects Verve's effort to create consumer experiences that extend beyond payments.

“VerveLife has continued to evolve, bringing together fitness, entertainment, lifestyle and community,” Eromosele said, adding that the Google Play collaboration would create more opportunities for participants to engage with and enjoy the experience digitally.

The Lagos finale is expected to bring together fitness enthusiasts, families and lifestyle communities for a day featuring workouts, an obstacle course and appearances by fitness personalities and trainers from across Africa.

The programme will culminate in an evening after-party, reinforcing the event's evolution from a fitness gathering into a wider lifestyle platform.

VerveLife 9.0 is also creating opportunities for professionals and emerging talents through its “Road to VerveLife 9 Stage” competition. Fitness trainers, dance instructors, aerobics coaches, yoga and Pilates instructors, as well as other fitness enthusiasts, can compete for opportunities to appear on the VerveLife stage.

A “Train the Trainer” programme is also scheduled for November 20, a day before the Lagos finale, extending the initiative's focus to professional development within the fitness community.

As VerveLife moves towards its Lagos finale, the renewed Google Play collaboration adds another dimension to an experience increasingly built around the combination of physical activity, digital engagement, entertainment and community.
