Union Bank of Nigeria and its Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Mrs Olufunmilola Aluko, have received top recognitions at the 2026 Women in Marketing and Communications Conference and Awards (WIMCA).
The bank was named the Most Outstanding Bank in Gender Inclusion, while Aluko was recognised among the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications.
The awards were presented on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Themed “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction,” the 2026 edition of WIMCA brought together female professionals, brand executives and communications experts from Nigeria and other parts of Africa.
The conference focused on leadership, resilience, industry trends and the growing role of women in marketing and communications.
Union Bank's recognition was linked to its efforts to promote gender inclusion across its workplace and financial ecosystem, including initiatives designed to support women, female entrepreneurs and professionals.
The bank has also implemented programmes around capacity building, mentorship, networking and access to economic opportunities for women.
Speaking on the recognition, Aluko said the award was a validation of the bank's efforts to make gender inclusion part of its broader approach to institutional growth.
“Union Bank’s recognition at WIMCA 2026 is a strong validation of our sustained commitment to advancing gender inclusion as a driver of institutional excellence, innovation and sustainable growth,” she said.
Aluko added that the recognition would encourage the bank to create more opportunities for women across its workplace, customer base and wider society.
WIMCA was established by Brand Communicator, a Nigerian marketing and communications publication, to promote female leadership and participation in the brand, marketing and communications industry.
The latest recognition adds to Union Bank's focus on gender inclusion as it continues to position itself as a more inclusive financial institution.
