The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has constituted a nine-member Credentials Committee to oversee preparations for its 2026 Triennial National Delegates Conference scheduled for November 2026.
The decision was taken at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the association held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
Addressing members of the newly constituted committee, the National Chairperson of NAWOJ, Aishatu Ibrahim, charged them to discharge their responsibilities with fairness, impartiality and professionalism.
She urged the committee to adhere strictly to the Constitution of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and other relevant regulations guiding the association, stressing that due process and respect for established rules were essential to preserving the integrity, unity and credibility of NAWOJ.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the National President of the NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi.
While inaugurating the committee, Abdullahi charged members to carry out their assignment with integrity, patriotism and professionalism, while ensuring that the electoral process is free, fair, credible and transparent.
He also urged the committee to be guided by the NUJ Constitution in the discharge of its responsibilities and commended NAWOJ for its commitment to democratic principles.
The nine-member committee comprises Comrade Rajab Mohammed as Chairman, with Comrade Nsibiet John; Comrade Maureen Sheyin, representing Zone A; Comrade Abisola Ariwodola, Zone B; Comrade Stephanie Ude, Zone C; Comrade Grace Akwe Ogbayi, Zone D; Comrade Rashida Yusuf, Zone E; Comrade Grace Orumieyefa, Zone F; and Comrade Farida Abubakar as members.
The committee is responsible for coordinating the necessary processes towards the successful organisation and conduct of the 2026 NAWOJ Triennial National Delegates Conference.
The NAWOJ National Secretariat called on members and stakeholders to give the committee the necessary cooperation and support to enable it to effectively discharge its mandate.
