Veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is battling stage-four cancer, with his daughters making an emotional appeal for urgent medical intervention.
The actor’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, separately took to Instagram to seek help from Nigerians, medical professionals, hospitals and anyone who may be able to provide treatment for their father.
According to the family, they only became aware of the seriousness of Ogogo’s condition about three weeks ago, despite the actor not initially showing obvious signs of how severe his illness had become.
In her emotional appeal, Kira disclosed that her father’s cancer had reached stage four and said the hospital treating him had told the family that it could no longer continue with chemotherapy.
The development has prompted the family to seek other treatment options and medical professionals who may be willing and able to take up his case. Kira appealed to anyone with access to cancer specialists, hospitals or other credible treatment options to come forward and give her father another chance.
She also said the family was open to exploring different forms of intervention, including medical treatment and traditional options, provided they could help her father.
The family stressed that the appeal was not for financial assistance but for medical intervention and access to people who could help treat the actor. Kira specifically urged anyone who could provide treatment or connect them with someone capable of taking up his case to contact the family.
The situation has left Ogogo’s children deeply concerned. Kira, visibly overwhelmed by emotion, said her father had repeatedly expressed his desire to live, telling his children that he did not want to die.
She appealed to medical professionals, hospitals and well-meaning Nigerians to help the family find a solution, saying she could not bear to lose her father.
As of the time of filing this report, the specific type of cancer Ogogo is battling and the identity of the hospital where he has been receiving treatment had not been publicly disclosed. The family, however, continues to seek urgent medical intervention that could give the 66-year-old actor another chance to continue living.
