Mrs. Bukola Ayeni-Anota, elder sister to twins Kehinde Loveth Abidakun and the late Taiwo Abidakun, has appealed for protection for herself and her family following the death of her sister, which she attributes to a traumatic incident involving the invasion of hoodlums and security operatives on 1st February, 2026
According to Mrs. Ayeni-Anota, it was a fateful evening when security operatives and hoodlums stormed our family's residence in Akure, Ondo state while looking for Kehinde Loveth Abidakun. She said many people found it difficult to believe that Kehinde had already travelled to Canada because of the striking resemblance between the twins, resulting in Taiwo Abidakun being mistaken for her sister.
Speaking with journalist, Mrs. Ayeni-Anota said, when they came, they were shouting Kehinde's name, saying, "Today, you can't escape arrest!" She said it went on for hours, and in the process, fear gripped the household. The encounter left Taiwo in severe emotional distress and shock. She said Taiwo subsequently suffered a medical emergency and was rushed to the hospital, where the doctor confirmed that she was dead on arrival. According to the doctor, he said that the shock caused by the incident led to Taiwo's cardiac arrest. She added that the family has hospital records documenting her admission and death.
As if that was not enough, during the incident, kehinde's 10-year-old son also sustained serious injuries and required medical attention.
Expressing fears for her family's safety, Mrs. Ayeni-Anota said she remains concerned that she and Kehinde could also be at risk. She appealed to relevant authorities and humanitarian organisations to consider the family's situation and ensure their safety.
Mrs. Ayeni-Anota said the family continues to mourn Taiwo's death while seeking protection and hoping that the circumstances surrounding the incident will receive appropriate attention.
