WEMA BANK OPENS FINAL CALL FOR ONE-DAY MD/CEO CHILDREN’S DAY INITIATIVE 2026

Wema Bank has announced a final call for submissions for its One-Day MD/CEO Children’s Day Initiative, as the deadline for entries approaches on May 20, 2026.

The initiative, first launched in May 2025 as part of the bank’s 80th anniversary celebration, is designed to give children and teenagers across Nigeria the opportunity to step into the role of Managing Director/CEO of the bank for one day.

Inspired by the anniversary theme “80 Years of Impact, A Future of Possibilities,” the programme aims to bridge generations by encouraging young Nigerians to envision leadership and career possibilities in the financial sector.

In the 2025 edition, 12-year-old Chiderije Mbah emerged as the winner, earning widespread attention and praise for the initiative, which many parents and observers described as innovative and inspiring for youth development.

For the 2026 edition, Wema Bank will select another child or teenager aged 0–16 to serve as MD/CEO for a day. The selected participant will experience executive-level responsibilities, including attending board meetings, making strategic decisions, and gaining insight into corporate leadership.

The bank described the programme as part of its commitment to youth empowerment and leadership development, especially as it continues to position itself as Nigeria’s pioneer of fully digital banking through its ALAT platform.

To participate, interested children or teens are required to record a 60-second video explaining their ideal role in banking and what they hope to achieve in the future.

Entries must be posted on social media using the hashtag #EvolutionOfPossibilities and tagging .

According to the bank, submissions will be evaluated based on engagement, with the entry receiving the highest number of likes emerging as the winner.

The winner will serve as Wema Bank MD/CEO for one day on May 25, 2026, in celebration of Children’s Day.

The bank urged parents and guardians to encourage their children to participate, noting that submissions close on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
