For decades, the Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN) has served as a leading voice for visual storytelling, professional ethics, and media accountability across the country. As the umbrella body representing photographers and photojournalists nationwide, the association continues to influence how Nigeria’s stories are captured, framed, and preserved within national discourse.
At its 2026 Annual Symposium held on February 27 in Lagos, the association recognised leadership beyond the newsroom, presenting a Special Recognition Award to the Group CEO of Mediacraft Associates, John Ehiguese.
The honour was conferred in acknowledgment of his contributions to advancing professional excellence within Nigeria’s public relations and media ecosystem, as well as his sustained support for initiatives that promote industry development.
The Annual Symposium, one of PJAN’s flagship gatherings, convenes media executives, policymakers, communication professionals, and frontline photojournalists to examine evolving trends, ethical challenges, and the future of visual journalism. This year’s theme, “Restoring Our Pride: The Role of Photojournalists in National Discourse,” was delivered by veteran journalist Chief Dare Babarinsa, who underscored the powerful role of images in shaping national identity and global perception.
Presenting the award, PJAN Chairman, Princess Alaba Igbaroola, commended Ehiguese for what she described as “visionary leadership, transformative impact, and commitment to excellence within the communications industry.”
Responding to the recognition, Ehiguese expressed appreciation to the association and dedicated the award to his team.
“This recognition is not just personal; it reflects the dedication and hard work of the entire team at Mediacraft. We remain committed to driving innovation, creating sustainable value, and contributing meaningfully to the growth of our industry,” he said.
Founded over two decades ago, Mediacraft Associates has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading integrated marketing communications consultancies. The firm’s client portfolio includes major multinational corporations such as Stanbic IBTC Group, Interswitch Group, and Olam Group, reinforcing its influence within the corporate communications landscape.
Industry observers note that the Special Recognition Award further strengthens Ehiguese’s standing as a respected thought leader while underscoring the growing intersection between public relations strategy and visual journalism in shaping modern reputation management.
