NEWS FLASH: FIRE OUTBREAK AT LAGOS AIRPORT’S TERMINAL 1 DISRUPTS FLIGHTS, PASSENGERS EVACUATED



Chaos erupted at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Monday following a massive fire outbreak that forced passengers to evacuate the terminal and disrupted flight operations at the busy aviation hub.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Fire Service are currently battling the blaze to prevent further damage.

Confirming the incident, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said no casualties have been recorded.

“We can confirm that a fire outbreak occurred at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. No casualties have been reported. Our firefighters, in collaboration with FAAN Fire Service, are on ground, and further updates will be provided as the situation develops,” Adeseye said.

The incident has caused disruptions to flight operations, with passengers seen evacuating the terminal as emergency responders worked to contain the fire.

Authorities have assured travelers that investigations will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident, while airport operations will be restored once the situation is fully under control.
