The Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Marketing Edge, Mr. John Oluope Ajayi, will be laid to rest on Friday, January 16, 2026, in his hometown, Ijan-Ekiti, Ekiti State, following a series of burial rites scheduled across Lagos and Ekiti.
According to the burial programme released by the family, activities commence on Monday, January 12, 2026, with a Requiem Mass at the Catholic Church of Transfiguration, Arepo, at 5:30 PM. This will be followed by a Night of Tributes on Tuesday, January 13, at the Luxury Party Event Centre, Plot G, Block A2, MKO Abiola Garden Road, Alausa, Ikeja, by 4:00 PM.
A Service of Songs will hold on Wednesday, January 14, at Journalists’ Estate, Phase 1, by 5:00 PM, while a Wake-keep is scheduled for Thursday, January 15, at Chief Ajayi’s country home, opposite the General Hospital, Ijan-Ekiti, by 6:00 PM.
The final burial Mass will take place on Friday, January 16, at St. James Catholic Church, Ijan-Ekiti, by 11:00 AM, after which interment will follow. A reception for guests is planned immediately after the burial.
Ajayi, a respected media entrepreneur and marketing communications expert, was widely regarded as a key figure in Nigeria’s advertising and media industry, where he made significant contributions through Marketing Edge.
