FIDELITY BANK BOOSTS GYMNASTICS DEVELOPMENT WITH SPONSORSHIP OF GYMFEST CHAMPIONSHIP 2.0

Fidelity Bank Plc, one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and grassroots sports development as the headline sponsor of Gymfest Championship 2.0, held in Lagos over the weekend.

The event attracted vibrant participation from children between the ages of 3 and 12, who competed across Levels 1 to 7. Gymfest 2.0 brought together young gymnasts, parents, coaches, schools, clubs, and corporate sponsors, all united by a shared mission to nurture and spotlight budding gymnastic talent across the country.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head, Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank Plc, emphasized that the bank’s investment in gymnastics aligns with its broader vision to support platforms that equip young Nigerians to unlock their potential.

Nwagboh said.

Also speaking at the event, Yoyin Akpose, Founder of Tee Tumblers Gymnastics Club and Co-founder of Gymfest Championship, shared the long-term objective of expanding access to gymnastics across Nigeria.

“Our aim is to make gymnastics accessible to every child with a dream. We envision fully equipped centers across Surulere, Ikorodu, Ikeja, Apapa, and more—creating opportunities for children at all levels,”
Akpose said.
“GYMFEST is changing the narrative by offering a structured platform for talent development, international exposure, and professional training.”

One of the high points of Gymfest 2.0 was the outstanding performance of Oluwatoni Pitan, who clinched the top position as Overall Best Gymnast in the Level 2 Vault category.

Filled with excitement, she shared:

“I feel very excited because I didn’t expect this at all. This is my first Level 2 competition, and it took me three weeks of preparation. I encourage other female gymnasts to work hard and stay consistent—you never know when your opportunity will come.”

Oluwatoni also expressed gratitude to Fidelity Bank, the organizers, and her parents for giving her the platform to showcase her talent and pursue her athletic dreams.
