GLO FOUNDATION PROVIDES RELIEF TO WOMEN IN DELTA COMMUNITIES

It was a weekend of joy in Warri, Delta State, as thousands of women, including widows, trooped to Urhobo College to benefit from the Glo Foundation’s “Giving Back Together” initiative.

The outreach, which is part of Globacom’s nationwide intervention programme, provided food packs and essential household items to women from Warri North, Warri South, Aladja, Ughelli South, Udu, and Uvwie Local Government Areas.

Speaking at the event, Globacom’s Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Mrs. Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, explained that the initiative focuses on supporting the most vulnerable—particularly women and children—who often bear the heaviest burden in tough times.

“Our food drive is not just for anyone. It is targeted at the most vulnerable segment of society. When we help them, we are helping the society at large,” she said.

Each beneficiary received a package containing 5kg of rice, 5kg of garri, semovita, spaghetti, vegetable oil, tomato paste, sardines, seasoning cubes, noodles, and other essentials.

The distribution sparked scenes of joy, with women breaking into songs and dances. Princess Omo-Udoyo of Ughelli North exclaimed: “I have not seen this before. I thank God and Glo Foundation for this gift.”

For Mrs. Esther Okoro from Otu Jeremi, Ughelli South, gratitude came in the form of prayers: “God will lift the company and the people who have done this higher and higher. They will never lack anything.”

The “Giving Back Together” initiative, which has already reached several states, is expected to extend to more cities across Nigeria in the coming months, bringing relief to thousands more women and families.
