RITE FOODS LIMITED CHAMPIONS WORLD CLEAN-UP DAY WITH BOLD COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY

As the world marked World Clean-Up Day, Rite Foods Limited reaffirmed its commitment to building a cleaner and greener Nigeria through bold environmental initiatives aimed at tackling plastic pollution and inspiring community action.

Rite Foods, makers of the Bigi soft drinks, Fearless Energy Drink, Rite and Bigi Sausages, has consistently positioned itself at the forefront of environmental stewardship with impactful programmes such as Rite on the Beach and participation in the Plastic-Free July campaign. These initiatives have removed significant volumes of plastic waste from ecosystems while creating educational and recycling opportunities that benefit children and local communities.

The Rite on the Beach initiative focuses on protecting Nigeria’s coastlines. Through volunteer-driven clean-up exercises, thousands of kilograms of plastics have been cleared from beaches and marine environments, preserving aquatic life and safeguarding natural beauty.

This year, Rite Foods expanded its reach with the Plastic-Free July campaign in collaboration with the Office of Sustainable Development Goals, Lagos State Government. The company distributed recoverable bags in malls and communities, promoted staff waste-sorting initiatives, and directly engaged residents on responsible disposal practices. The campaign recorded remarkable success, recovering over 40 tons of plastic waste within a month.

Speaking on the company’s commitment, Mr. Ekuma Eze, Head, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, said:
“World Clean-Up Day is a reminder of our shared duty to protect the environment we all depend on. At Rite Foods, sustainability is not a one-off project but a lifestyle.”

Also, Mr. Dennis Aideloje, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager, emphasized the company’s broader vision:
“As a proudly Nigerian and truly world-class brand, we are committed to transforming waste into hope. Beyond clean-ups, our initiatives provide children in underserved communities with tools for learning and a brighter future.”

By converting recovered plastic waste into school bags and other useful materials, Rite Foods demonstrates the power of circular economy practices—protecting the environment while delivering lasting social impact. These efforts are anchored on the company’s sustainability framework, EYEC – Education, Youth Empowerment, Environmental Stewardship, and Community Development.

Looking ahead, Rite Foods pledged to deepen partnerships with environmental organizations, community groups, and volunteers to sustain its mission of inspiring collective action and driving meaningful change, one initiative at a time.
