Anambra State, under the leadership of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has been ranked the best-performing Southern State in fiscal performance, according to the 2024 State of States Report on budget rankings. Nationally, Anambra secured the No. 3 spot, cementing its place as one of the most fiscally responsible and efficiently managed states in Nigeria.
This remarkable feat is credited to the sterling performance of Governor Soludo, fondly hailed as “The Solution” and “The Jinx Breaker” by citizens. Since assuming office, the governor has rolled out transformative policies and projects that have earned him accolades across diverse sectors.
In the latest ranking, Cross River and Kwara joined Rivers, Lagos, and Anambra in the Top 5, while Ebonyi and Kaduna, which featured in 2023, dropped off the list. At the bottom, Jigawa replaced Zamfara.
Governor Soludo’s administration has delivered sweeping reforms across critical sectors. In security, crime rates have reduced significantly through strategic interventions like the Agunechemba security system, technology-driven policing, and the Operation Udo Ga-Achi operatives. In infrastructure, the state is witnessing massive road construction projects and urban renewal initiatives across major towns.
In education, his government has overhauled the public school system, implemented a free education policy, and recruited over 8,115 teachers. In healthcare, five new general hospitals are under construction while existing facilities are being upgraded. The state has also employed more doctors and nurses while introducing free antenatal services for women.
On the economic front, Anambra is attracting fresh investments, boosting industrialisation, supporting agriculture, and empowering youths through digital training and human capital development initiatives.
Governor Soludo’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. He was honoured with the Vanguard Newspaper Governor of the Year Award for Good Governance (2025), The Sun Governor of the Year Award (2024), and the Independent Newspaper Governor of the Year Award (2024) for his urban renewal initiatives.
Additionally, in 2024, Soludo was named the Best-Performing Governor in Primary Healthcare Delivery in Nigeria. He also emerged best in the Southeast region and overall nationally, in an award jointly presented by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Health, and UNICEF.
With these milestones, Governor Soludo has not only repositioned Anambra as a model of fiscal prudence and development but also reinforced his reputation as a visionary leader whose governance continues to resonate with citizens and institutions alike.
