FRESH FM MANAGEMENT BREAKS SILENCE ON FIRE INCIDENT IN IBADAN

The management of Fresh FM Nigeria has confirmed the devastating fire incident that razed its head office at Challenge, Ibadan, on Friday, August 15, 2025.

In an official statement signed by Samson Akindele, Group Head of Corporate Affairs, the station disclosed that the inferno destroyed critical facilities including the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, the newsroom, transmitter/server room, and several broadcasting equipment.

“All efforts to fight the fire, before the arrival of professional firefighters, with our in-house extinguishers proved abortive because of the strength of the inferno,” the statement read.

The management added that while the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, no lives were lost. They expressed gratitude to residents of the area, passersby, and officials of the Oyo State Fire Service for their swift response in helping to contain the flames.

The incident has since drawn widespread sympathy from Nigerians, media professionals, and the public, who described the fire as a major loss to the broadcasting industry.

Reacting to the tragedy, Princess Adeola Shittu, Publisher of Event Diary Lifestyle, described the fire as “a huge loss not only to Fresh FM but to the entire Nigerian media space.” She added: “Fresh FM has consistently been a beacon of excellence and a trusted voice for information, education, and entertainment. We are confident that the station will rise stronger from this setback.”

Founded by music icon Dr. Yinka Ayefele (MON), Fresh FM has become one of Nigeria’s most influential private radio networks, with branches across multiple states. The station is renowned for its people-centered journalism, robust programming, and entertainment.

As investigations continue, the management assured the public that further updates will be provided while damage assessments are ongoing.
