WOMEN AFFAIRS MINISTER MOURNS THE PASSING OF FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI


The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in London.

In a statement signed by her Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Jonathan Eze, the Minister described the former President’s passing as a profound loss—not only to his family but to the entire nation he served with unwavering dedication and commitment.

“During his tenure as President,” she noted, “he demonstrated an unshakable resolve to advance Nigeria's development. His leadership and policies touched millions of lives, particularly through initiatives that enhanced the welfare of women and children—key pillars in the nation’s growth and progress.”

Reflecting on his impact, the Minister acknowledged the progress made under President Buhari’s administration in empowering women and promoting gender equality.

“In this moment of national grief, we remember President Buhari for his resilience, his firm stance on national integrity, and the vision he had for a united and prosperous Nigeria. His legacy will continue to inspire generations as we move forward in the journey of nation-building.”

She called on Nigerians to reflect on the values the former President upheld and to honour his memory through unity, service, and commitment to the nation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. We stand in solidarity with all Nigerians in mourning this great loss.
