The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has called on public servants across the state to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. The Council reviewed the process during its recent meeting, addressing noted challenges and proffering solutions to ensure a smoother experience for registrants.
The call was made at the 14th ANSEC meeting, held on July 14, 2025, at the Light House, Awka, where other key matters were also discussed.
According to the State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the Council directed that public servants who provide evidence of voter registration should be granted permission by their supervisors to take part in the CVR exercise.
In a related development, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, encouraged all residents and indigenes of Anambra State to come out en masse and take part in the registration process with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in preparation for the upcoming gubernatorial election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
He emphasized that this is why INEC has opened a crucial window for the CVR in the state, which runs from July 8 to July 17.
Aburime highlighted that democracy is a game of numbers and that increased voter participation enhances the chances of electing the right leaders in a free and fair election. “But it all starts with duly registering to vote,” he noted.
He described the CVR as a golden opportunity for all eligible citizens and residents of Anambra State to take action, register, and ensure their voices are heard in shaping the future of the state.
The CPS stressed that the upcoming gubernatorial election is a pivotal moment for Anambra — a chance to elect a leader who will drive progress, sustain development, meet community needs, and work toward realizing the shared vision of transforming Anambra into a prosperous, smart megacity.
“The CVR is open to all eligible voting categories in Anambra State,” he explained. “If you are 18 years or older and have never registered to vote, now is the time to join the voters’ register. If you have relocated to Anambra from another state, or moved within the state, you can update your registration to reflect your new location. If your Permanent Voter Card (PVC) is missing or damaged, you can apply for a replacement during the CVR. And if you have registered previously but have not collected your PVC, you can pick it up at designated registration centres.”
