GLO OFFERS CUSTOMERS PROTECTION ON THEIR PHONES AND DEVICES

Telecommunications solutions provider, Globacom, has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative tagged Device Protection Service, aimed at easing subscribers’ concerns about the safety of their mobile devices.

The first-of-its-kind service in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector is being launched in partnership with Cubecover, a leading technology solutions enabler in the country.

In a press statement issued in Lagos, Globacom explained that the Device Protection Service will provide both new and existing customers with affordable coverage for their mobile devices against screen and water damage. For a small premium, customers can enjoy up to ₦50,000 worth of screen repairs or replacement in the event of damage.

Mr. Mojeed Aluko, Globacom’s Head of Value Added Services (VAS), noted that customers can access this service for ₦50 per day.

“There is also a ₦300 subscription option for customers who prefer to pay weekly, while the monthly subscription costs just ₦600. With this affordable micro-protection plan, subscribers are eligible for up to ₦50,000 in screen repair support when accidental damage occurs,” he stated.

He further explained that the protection becomes active after the subscriber maintains an active subscription for a minimum of one month.

Managing Director of Cubecover, Mr. Deji Macaulay, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that the collaboration with Globacom is strategically designed to reduce customer anxiety over phone damage and repair costs.

Customers interested in the service can enroll by dialing *7013*1# via USSD and selecting their preferred subscription plan—daily, weekly, or monthly. New customers without Glo SIMs can visit any Gloworld outlet nationwide, purchase a Glo SIM and mobile device, and subscribe to the Device Protection Service immediately.

Mr. Aluko added that the subscription fee will be deducted directly from the customer’s Glo airtime balance. Subscribers may choose a one-time payment or activate auto-renewal. Upon successful subscription, a link will be sent to test the integrity of the device screen. If the screen passes the diagnostic check, the device’s IMEI number will be registered with Cubecover.

“This Device Protection Service is unique for its simplicity, affordability, and technology-driven verification process. It eliminates delays and paperwork, making it easy and fast for millions of Nigerians to protect their smartphones,” Globacom added.
