Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has expelled one of its students, Oladipupo Siwajuola, for what the institution described as a gross violation of its rules and regulations, including alleged involvement in fetish practices, drug peddling, impersonation, and acts of dishonesty.

The decision, which has sparked conversations online, follows weeks of public concern after Siwajuola was declared missing by his mother. However, a statement from the university clarified that the student deliberately left campus on April 28, 2025, concealing his identity with a hoodie as he exited through the university teaching hospital gate without authorization.

Siwajuola resurfaced on May 15, 2025, and was brought back to campus by his father. During an investigation by the university's Security Services Department, he reportedly admitted to a series of misconducts.

According to the statement, the student confessed to buying black soap for N100,000 from a herbalist for ritual purposes, claiming it was meant to boost fraudulent online activities, popularly known as “Yahoo Plus.” He also admitted to peddling drugs, borrowing N500,000 from a loan app to gamble, impersonating a fellow student to open a bank account, and selling his personal phone without his parents’ knowledge.

The university dismissed claims made by his mother on social media that he had been kidnapped or neglected by the institution. It clarified that his whereabouts were made known after a friend’s mother alerted authorities upon discovering he was staying in her home in Lagos.

In a disciplinary hearing, Siwajuola reportedly affirmed the confessions he had made during his debriefing. Based on these findings, the university's administration decided to expel him by its policies and global standards for academic and moral conduct.

While the university noted that it had grounds to pursue legal action against the student's mother for what it described as baseless and damaging allegations, it has chosen not to proceed, citing the father's cooperation and responsible handling of the matter.

Babcock University reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a morally sound academic environment and warned that it would continue to take firm disciplinary action against students found violating its code of conduct.
