NEWS FLASH: OKE-ILA MOURNS AS OLORI SOLAPE ABOLARIN, WIFE OF ORANGUN OF OKE-ILA, PASSES ON

The serene town of Oke-Ila, Osun State, has been thrown into mourning as Olori Solape Abolarin, the only wife of the revered Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin (Aroyinkeye I), passes away.

The sad news was confirmed in a heartfelt statement released by Chief Jibola Awoseyi, the Asojuoba of Oke-Ila, who described the loss as deeply painful. “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Olori Solape, wife of Kabiesi Orangun Oke Ila. Please extend your condolences to our father and friend during this difficult time. May her soul find eternal peace,” the statement read.

Olori Solape was not just the monarch’s wife; she was his pillar, confidant, and steadfast supporter. In a past interview, Oba Abolarin openly spoke of his deep admiration and respect for her, saying: “Her proper understanding of my role as a traditional ruler got me attracted… She is the only one I have and she has been supporting me here.”

The Orangun, known for his progressive leadership and passion for youth empowerment, once explained why he chose to have only one wife: “With what I am doing here, I can’t afford to keep many wives. If I do, I don’t think I will be able to do what I am doing.”

Since the news broke, an outpouring of tributes has flooded in from across Nigeria and the diaspora, with many recalling the humility, quiet strength, and dignity Olori Solape embodied.

As the palace prepares for final rites, Oke-Ila mourns a queen, and the monarch faces a deeply personal loss with grace and faith.

May Olori Solape Abolarin rest in perfect peace.
