It was an evening of rhythm, nostalgia, and raw energy as legendary Fuji musician, Amb. Sulaimon Adio Atawewe, lit up the stage at the 2025 Idimu Day Celebration in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Popularly known as “Etu O Si, Oba O Je”, Atawewe reaffirmed his status as a maestro of the Fuji genre, thrilling thousands of fans with a dynamic performance that seamlessly blended traditional Fuji beats with his signature Dancehall Fuji innovation. From his opening notes to the final bow, the atmosphere in Idimu was nothing short of electric.
Organized by the Idimu Community Development Association in collaboration with cultural stakeholders, the event was a vibrant celebration of Yoruba culture, community unity, and musical excellence — with Atawewe’s performance standing out as the highlight of the festivities.
With a well-curated setlist, the veteran entertainer delivered fan favourites and timeless classics from his multi-decade career. The crowd erupted with excitement as he performed hits like "To Ba Bi E Re," "Idimu Lawa," and "Ki Lo N Fo Loke." The performance featured praise-singing, call-and-response chants, and high-energy drumming that kept the audience on their feet.
Dressed in a dazzling Ankara ensemble, Atawewe’s commanding stage presence and smooth vocals reminded all in attendance why he remains a household name in the Nigerian music scene. Beyond the entertainment, he used the platform to advocate for peace, youth engagement, and cultural preservation.
“Idimu Day is not just a celebration; it’s a reminder of who we are. I’m honoured to be here with my people,” Atawewe said during his performance.
The event drew an impressive roster of dignitaries, including traditional rulers, community leaders, local politicians, and key players in the entertainment industry. Many praised Atawewe not only for his musical artistry but also for his dedication to uplifting grassroots communities and championing indigenous sounds.
As the curtain fell on the 2025 edition of Idimu Day, one sentiment resonated through the crowd: Atawewe didn’t just perform — he owned the night.
