...As School Outlines Disciplinary Measures
By Adetilewa Coker
In a five-page statement obtained by Event Diary Lifestyle on Sunday, May 5, 2025, Babcock University has addressed the controversy surrounding Oladipupo Siwajuola, a JUPEB student declared missing by his mother, Mrs. Fijabi Oyindamola Omotayo. The institution firmly denied any claims of negligence and outlined a sequence of events and disciplinary steps taken in response to the matter.
According to the university’s statement, Siwajuola left campus without obtaining official clearance, thereby breaching the school’s student movement protocol—an essential safety framework designed to monitor students’ whereabouts.
“The student in question, Oladipupo Siwajuola, left the university premises without clearance and contrary to established procedures. His unauthorized exit was unknown to the school at the time,” the university stated.
Babcock expressed dismay over public accusations made by the student’s mother on social media, asserting that they were misleading and unfair. The management added that upon learning of the student’s disappearance, it worked in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, internal security teams, student associations, and other stakeholders to aid the search effort.
The statement also disclosed that Siwajuola had previously been the subject of several behavioural complaints from his roommates. These included allegations of gambling, possession of fetish items, and disruptive conduct—issues that the school claims were informally communicated to the student’s mother.
“Rather than escalate the reports to school authorities, Mrs. Fijabi allegedly advised the roommates to remain silent, thereby hampering early intervention,” the document said.
With the student now reportedly found, the university confirmed that disciplinary proceedings are already underway. Siwajuola is expected to appear before the Student Disciplinary Committee, where he will be allowed to respond to the allegations in line with the school’s fairness and justice principles.
Babcock further stated that any other individuals connected to the matter will also be summoned as investigations progress.
Interestingly, the university noted that as of the time the statement was released, it had yet to receive official confirmation from either the police or the family confirming the student's return. The school urged the public to refrain from speculation and to allow investigative processes to take their full course.
“We remain committed to safeguarding the welfare of all students and upholding the values of truth, fairness, and discipline. We appeal to the public for calm and responsibility in public commentary.”
This update, obtained exclusively by Event Diary Lifestyle, brings fresh clarity to the unfolding situation and signals the school’s resolve to manage student affairs with firmness and transparency.
