As a special way to mark his 60th birthday, consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician, Dr. Ademola Ayodele, has offered a N120 million free fertility treatment package. Speaking during his 60th birthday celebration held in Lagos recently, Ayodele, who is the Medical Director of The StrongTower Specialist Hospital and Fertility Centre, Lagos, described the gesture as a giveback initiative.
He explained that the initiative was designed to make fertility treatments more accessible and affordable, adding that “the joy of many marriages is often tied to the ability to have children, especially in Africa.”
“As a token of gratitude, I am offering free Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) treatments to 60 patients and a 50 per cent discount on In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) for another 60 patients over the next six months. This is a seed of hope, a gift of love, and a possibility offered in thanksgiving to God, who has done exceedingly more than I could ever ask or imagine,” Ekiti State-born Ayodele said.
In his earlier presentation entitled “Be Fruitful and Multiply,” he identified ignorance, poverty, and quackery as major challenges preventing couples from conceiving. He listed four essential criteria for conception: a viable egg, healthy sperm, a clear passage/route, and a functional womb.
According to him, solutions to infertility may include appropriate tests, counselling, timed intercourse, hormonal support, IUI, IVF, and advanced options like surrogacy or uterine transplants.
Dr. Ayodele’s remarkable gesture has been widely applauded. His daughter, Dr. Ayodele Favour, who is also a gynaecologist, described her father as a great man deeply committed to his profession and the wellbeing of families.
