ANAMBRA'S 21 LGAs UNITE BEHIND SOLUDO, DEMONSTRATING A MANDATE RENEWED, A VISION REAFFIRMED
In an emphatic display of unity and political strength, all 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State have thrown their weight behind Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the sole gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the upcoming election.
The APGA state congress, held in a vibrant yet orderly atmosphere, recorded 3,260 accredited delegates, with 3,175 casting their votes. Of these, 3,168 valid votes were cast in Soludo’s favor, with only four invalid entries—a landslide affirmation of the governor’s leadership and performance.
Chief Nwaegbo Uche, chairman of the party’s electoral committee, officially declared Soludo the duly elected candidate, citing the overwhelming and unprecedented support as proof of a unified mandate and a shared vision for Anambra’s future.
According to the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the process was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at both state and federal levels, who affirmed the credibility and transparency of the exercise from accreditation to final collation.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Soludo paid homage to the legacy of APGA, describing it as the first registered progressive party in Nigeria since 2002. “Anambra is APGA, and APGA is Anambra,” he declared to rapturous applause from the thousands of party faithful in attendance.
He expressed deep appreciation to the people of the state, the clergy, traditional rulers, over sixty support groups, students, and private individuals whose consistent encouragement and voluntary contributions have fueled his administration’s progress.
Soludo highlighted the transformative strides of his administration, anchored on a five-pillar development blueprint, which includes:
- Recruitment of over 8,115 teachers and public servants to revamp human capital,
- Enhanced security and law enforcement,
- Massive road and infrastructure development, connecting rural and urban areas,
- Ongoing economic reforms, and
- A comprehensive urban regeneration initiative focused on waste management and a cleaner Anambra.
He also emphasized advancements in digital governance, public sector accountability, and value system reforms.
Reaffirming his running mate, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Governor Soludo expressed confidence in their continued partnership to deliver greater results. “I will not let APGA and the people of Anambra down. I cannot and will not take this trust for granted,” he assured.
As the 2025 gubernatorial election approaches, this clean sweep by Soludo not only signals party unity but also sets the tone for a campaign driven by vision, performance, and people-focused leadership.
