As part of Governor Charles Soludo’s ambitious urban renewal and infrastructure transformation agenda, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has awarded contracts for the 2-IN-1 Urban Regeneration Projects at Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri.
According to the State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, ANSEC has approved the renewal project for Zhontiang Construction Company and the development of a bumper car building, a drivers’ lounge, and a covered walkway at Solution Fun City in Awka. These projects are key components of Soludo’s broader vision to modernize infrastructure, boost tourism, and enhance economic opportunities in Anambra State.
Major Infrastructure Developments Across the State
Governor Soludo’s commitment to urban regeneration extends beyond the state capital, impacting various towns and communities through strategic infrastructure projects:
Road Network Expansion: A 40.6 km road project is currently underway in Orumba South Local Government Area (LGA), aimed at improving connectivity and facilitating economic activities.
Slum-to-City Transformation: The governor has successfully revamped Okpoko, once the largest urban slum in the East of the Niger, turning it into a model of urban development.
Strategic Road Constructions: The government has commenced the 10.6 km Uga-Oty-Obizi and Uga-Nkpologwu road projects in Aguata LGA. These are part of a broader 46.9 km road network initiative, with 36.3 km already completed, ensuring seamless interconnectivity between communities.
Ekwulobia as a Cosmopolitan Hub: Ekwulobia, a key commercial town, has undergone major infrastructural upgrades, reinforcing its status as a modern urban center.
