Leading telecommunications provider Globacom has reaffirmed its commitment to network efficiency and service excellence by continuing its nationwide infrastructure upgrade.
Initiated last year, this massive operation involves the comprehensive enhancement of existing infrastructure and the rollout of new base transceiver stations (BTS) to deliver high-speed data and improved voice services for its expanding customer base.
ENHANCING NETWORK PERFORMANCE AMID INDUSTRY CHANGES
Despite the recent telecom tariff increases, Globacom remains dedicated to building world-class infrastructure while ensuring competitive pricing for its voice and data services.
"This network upgrade covers a wide range of improvements, including the nationwide rollout of new sites, upgrade of existing ones, core network enhancement, access network expansion, transmission and IP network upgrades, and fiber network expansion," the company stated.
EXPANDING NETWORK CAPACITY ACROSS NIGERIA
Globacom has successfully deployed hundreds of new sites in key locations, including:
- Lagos, Ogun, Nasarawa, Rivers, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Kaduna, Kano, and Abuja
- Tertiary institutions and high-traffic urban areas
Additionally, the company has integrated hundreds of LTE 2600 sites in strategic markets such as Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Kwara, improving high-speed data access and minimizing network congestion.
As part of its commitment to the Federal Government’s broadband penetration initiative, Globacom has also enhanced over 1,700 sites across multiple states, including Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and Plateau.
BOOSTING CAPACITY AND RELIABILITY
To further strengthen its infrastructure, Globacom has:
- Deployed additional 2G, 3G, and 4G base stations to enhance coverage and capacity.
- Upgraded the Glo1 submarine cable, ensuring seamless access to ultra-high-speed internet services.
- Launched a nationwide power and fiber infrastructure upgrade, replacing thousands of kilometers of old fiber routes and deploying thousands of new generators to ensure redundancy and improved network availability.
