Oando PLC has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Ademola Akinrele, SAN, as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, effective immediately after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on December 17, 2024. This follows the resignation of His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, CFR, who stepped down as Chairman after a distinguished 18-year tenure, including 12 years in the leadership role.
The company also announced the appointment of Mr. Cosmas Iwueze as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective December 16, 2024.

Mr. Akinrele brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With an LL.B (Hons.) from University College London and an LL.M from the University of Cambridge, he is a seasoned legal expert with decades of experience in commercial law, litigation, and specialized areas such as aviation and maritime law.
The Board believes Mr. Akinrele’s extensive knowledge of corporate governance and legal frameworks will be instrumental in driving the company’s strategic objectives and enhancing its leadership in the energy sector.
