EKITI SSG, PROF. HABIBAT ADUBIARO, ELEVATED TO PROFESSOR OF CHEMISTRY

In a significant academic milestone, the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has officially promoted Dr. Habibat Omolara Adubiaro, the Secretary to the Ekiti State Government (SSG), to the rank of Professor in Chemistry.


The announcement was made on Tuesday by FUOYE's Promotion and Appointment Committee, confirming that the professorship takes effect retroactively from October 1, 2022. This marks a new chapter in her illustrious career as both a scholar and a public servant.

Born on November 6, 1965, in Igboora, Oyo State, Prof. Adubiaro’s academic journey began at Local Government Authority Primary School in Abeokuta and progressed through Igboora High School and Oyo State College of Arts and Science, Ile Ife. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Ibadan in 1994, followed by a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Food Chemistry from Ekiti State University.

Prof. Adubiaro’s professional career spans decades of impactful service. She began as a Quality Control Supervisor at the defunct Odua Textile in Ado Ekiti, where she worked for five years before transitioning to academia. She lectured at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, for 13 years, rising to the rank of Senior Lecturer. She later joined FUOYE, where she has been a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Chemistry, contributing significantly to the field of Food Chemistry and Organic Synthesis.

Her academic work includes numerous publications and research grants, with a particular focus on nanoencapsulation of caffeine and nicotine from kolanut. She has received funding from notable bodies such as TETFund and TWAS, further solidifying her place in the scientific community.

Beyond academia, Prof. Adubiaro has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to public service. Appointed as SSG by Governor Biodun Oyebanji on October 16, 2022, she has played a pivotal role in advancing the administration’s vision for Ekiti State. During a congratulatory visit, she was commended for her commitment to excellence and her contributions to the development of the state.

Prof. Adubiaro is also a devout Muslim and a community leader. She holds the title “Osupa Adinni” and serves as the President of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Ekiti State Chapter.

Her elevation to the rank of professor is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and commitment to academic and public service excellence. Ekiti State and the nation at large celebrate this milestone as an inspiration to many.
