NEWS ALERT: DR. IJE JIDENMA ELECTED AS CHAIRMAN OF THE NIGERIA-SOUTH AFRICA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce (NSACC) has elected Dr. Ije Jidenma as its new Chairman. She was elected unopposed during the 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on November 28, 2024, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.


Dr. Jidenma succeeds Mr. Osayaba Giwa-Osagie, SAN, who retired after 3 years of dedicated service to the Chamber. The AGM also reaffirmed Mr. Ajibola Olomola as Vice Chairperson, ensuring a seamless transition and continuity in the Chamber's leadership.

Dr. Jidenma, a pioneer member of NSACC, is a highly respected management consultant and organizational development expert. With over 30 years of experience spanning academia, industry, and consulting, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role.

As the CEO of Leading Edge Consulting and Managing Partner of IRC (Nigeria), Dr. Jidenma has worked extensively with local and international organizations, delivering strategic solutions and driving impactful initiatives. Her work with prominent organizations such as Price Waterhouse (now PwC) and Merchant Bank of Africa has cemented her reputation as a leader in corporate governance and human capital development.

Dr. Jidenma’s appointment as Chairman is expected to further strengthen the Chamber’s role in fostering economic and business relations between Nigeria and South Africa. Members of the Chamber expressed optimism about her leadership, citing her professional accomplishments and commitment to excellence.

With a focus on enhancing partnerships and creating new opportunities for businesses, Dr. Jidenma is set to lead NSACC into a new era of growth and collaboration.

ABOUT DR IJE JIDENMA, FNIM, FCIPM, FIoD

Dr Ije Jidenma is a highly respected Management Consultant and professional.  She holds a PhD in Psychology  with  specialization in Psychometrics from the University of Lagos. She is the Chief Executive Officer of Leading Edge Consulting, a leading Human Resources & Organisational Development firm. She also serves as the Managing Partner of IRC ( Nigeria) a member firm of IRC global Executive Search Partnership ranked as the largest and fastest growing search alliance with footprints  in  85 cities of the world across 6 continents.

Her rich post-graduation experience garnered over a period of more than thirty years, traverses academia, industry experience and consulting in specialist  areas such as Learning and Development, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Strategic Planning and Corporate Governance.  She has led consultancy projects and joint venture initiatives with highly reputable firms locally and internationally serving diverse clients in different economic sectors. These range from indigenous to multinational companies as well as international not for profit  and multilateral organizations. Earlier on in her career, she worked for local and international organizations such as the Industrial Training Fund, Merchant Bank of Africa and Price Waterhouse (now PwC) at operational and executive levels.

Her vast   leadership and executive development have seen her occupy top executive  and non-executive board roles in Corporate Nigeria and in highly reputable non-for-profit organizations. She was a Non Executive Director of First Pension Custodian (Nigeria) Ltd from 2011 to 2014 and is currently an Independent Non Executive Director of First Bank Limited. She is a member of Women  Corporate Directors, the world’s largest membership organization and community of corporate board directors. A Fellow of  Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Personnel and the Institute of Directors,  Dr. Jidenma serves as the Institute’s Second Vice President.  She is a Senior Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a pioneer member of the Nigerian South African Chamber of Commerce and currently serves as a Director of the Chamber.

A strong   believer in continuous learning, Dr. Jidenma has attended various Executive and Board –level development  programmes   across the world. She is an Alumnus of the Harvard Business School Leading Professional Service Firms programme , the Lagos Business School Chief Executive Programme  and Kellog Corporate Governance programme among others. 

Dr. Jidenma spends her spare time, working on non-profit initiatives through The Goddy Jidenma Foundation, Benola Cerebral Palsy Initiative etc.  A past President of Soroptimist International of Surulere,  Dr Jidenma is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. She is a multiple award winner. In 2015 , she received the most respected HR Personality in Africa Award in Nairobi, Kenya . The Deloitte 2013 International Women’s Day Award was received   and the Centre For Values in Leadership Role Model Award in March 2015 . Last year, she was inducted in the Global Women Leaders Hall of Fame by the Centre For Economic Leadership Development.  Her personal goal is to contribute to Africa’s renaissance and transformation.
