MEET MOTILOLA AKINLAMI: THE VERSATILE ACTRESS REDEFINING NOLLYWOOD

When it comes to calm and easygoing Nollywood actresses, Motilola Akinlami the CEO of Studio 21 Production, the lovely mother of three, certainly stands out.


An award-winning actress, scriptwriter, producer, brand ambassador, and influencer, Motilola was born in the 80s to the family of the late Chief Bamikole Akinlami and Chief Mrs. Mercy Akinlami. After losing her father in 1991, she and her two siblings were raised by their mother, who is a well-respected figure in Ondo State. Her father was a prominent broadcaster at OSRC, while her mother made her mark as a politician and successful businesswoman. Fondly called Moti by friends and colleagues, she began her educational journey at St. Raphael Kiddies School in Akure, before attending Omole Nursery and Primary School for her primary education. She completed her secondary studies at St. Louis Girls Grammar School in Akure and later earned a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State. 

Motilola Akinlami’s multifaceted contributions to the industry began at a young age, but she made her professional debut in 2000 with the soap opera “Basorun Gaa,” produced by the esteemed Adebayo Faleti. Her passion for acting ignited during her secondary school years through stage performances, laying a solid foundation for her future in film. This early exposure to acting honed her skills, preparing her for the vibrant world of Nollywood. Her role in “Basorun Gaa” launched a prolific career, with Motilola quickly becoming known for her versatility across various genres. Her production company; Studio 21 marked 10 years of establishment this month. 

The production company is the producer of popular love song; Ariwo Oja by Folajogun. Her impressive filmography include standout works such as "Onikaluku," "Adaaba," "Imo," "Mirage," "Ariwo Oja," "Apo," and "Ogbon," each showcasing her ability to bring depth and authenticity to her characters. In addition to acting, Motilola has made significant strides as a producer and scriptwriter. Her production credits include; “The Therapist (2023), Mask (2019), where she acted as well as produced, and Igbako (2020) and Aga Meta (2022)”. In both "Mask" and "Igbako," she excelled in dual roles, further solidifying her reputation as a versatile talent.
