GROUP DECLARES SUPPORT FOR EKIMOGUN ROUNDTABLE OVER COMMITMENT TO PROBITY, ACCOUNTABILITY OF HON ABIOLA MAKINDE
A group of Ondo kingdom intellectuals under the auspices of Egbe Ojulogho Omo’ndo has declared support for The Ekimogun Roundtable for its undeterred commitment to probity and accountability of House of Reps member Abiola Makinde, representing ondo east/west federal constituency at the national assembly, saying public officers are servants of the people that should ordinarily and naturally render public account to the people without being forced to do so. Stressing that, it calls for questioning the character strength of any officer holder who requires compulsion or force Majeure before giving stewardship accounts for a job he begged and toiled rigorously to secure.
The group equally described an Ekimogun Roundtable stalwart, Mr. Niyi Akingunola, as a Godsent servant to Ondo City to liberate the people from the shackles of political manipulation, which, according to them, has engulfed the City for too long.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mr. Oluwasina Oyeola, and made available to journalists on Sunday, The Ojulogho Omo’ndo group described Mr. Niyi Akingunola as a core and disciplined technocrat of high repute, who has contributed his quota to the development of the people and the community.
"He is a silent achiever and helper of the people who don't like noise. He is someone that doesn’t believe in camera or undue publicity, which he often refers to as tools for deceit and manipulation while helping the poor to attract political advantage." The statement reads in part.
"During his service at the Federal Ministry of Interior, Mr Niyi encouraged countless Ondo youth and others from across the country to join the services of all the four agencies under the Ministry and offer other legitimate support systems to all. Despite intense pressure, he decided not to publicize these interventions but advised anyone in doubt to make an inquiry through critical youth organs and institutions in the community to verify.
"Mr Omoniyi, a highly refined gentleman of Ekimogun extraction, has personally put in place very strong intellectual efforts to ensure that Ondo City gets more dividends of democracy than what it is getting due to poor legislative representation. Which has started yielding positive and noticeable results already.
According to the group, the observer's report on federal constituency projects across the kingdom says there are a lot of 'questionable' discoveries.
"Mr. Oyeola, who is on a special tour of federal constituency projects allocated to the kingdom by the federal government, says something is definitely wrong and missing somewhere with the kind of gaps observed so far."
"Mr. Oyeola decried the level of underdeclaration of government interventions and the noticeable gap that existed between what the federal government has allocated to Ondo City and what is physically on the ground."
According to him, the situation looks just like deliberately setting people against the federal government, a situation he said needs urgent correction.
‘’Using different formats either by non or partial disclosure of actual fund/projects allocated, use of a special purpose family organization disguising as a humanitarian platform to divert public fund to run personal businesses and political campaigns is their usual style’’.
"The Egbe Ojulogho Omo’ndo has decided to join the Ekimogun Roundtable at ensuring that all federal government interventions are adequately reported and constituency allocations are properly approriated and fully used for the people rather than invocation of a one man running the affairs of the entire constituency like his private estate." The group added.
