MEET THE FIRST FEMALE SUBSTANTIVE CHIEF JUDGE OF KANO STATE (SEE PICTURE)

... The Story of Justice Dije Aboki


Justice Dije Abdu Aboki was indeed a woman of history as she becomes the first woman to emerge as Chief Judge of Kano State.

She was sworn in as the Substantive Chief Judge of Kano State by His Excellency (Engr.)  Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive the Governor of Kano State on Monday 7th August 2023 as took the oath of office as the First Female Chief Judge of Kano State.

She was appointed the Acting Chief Judge by the former Governor of Kano State, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje now the National Chairman of APC.

She was appointed the Acting Chief Judge following the retirement of the erstwhile Chief Judge, Justice Nura Sagir. Before then, she was the State High Court Judge for 17 years (2006 - 2023).

BRIEF ABOUT HER

Justice Dije Aboki was born July 10, 1964, in Kano. She attended Tudun Wada Primary School, Kano between 1969 and 1973. She proceeded to Government Girls College Minna, Niger, from 1973 to 1978 for her secondary education.

She graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, in 1983 (LLB. Hons). And did her NYSC at Bayero University Kano (1984 – 1985). She was called to the bar in 1984. And she began her career as state counsel in 1985 under the state Ministry of Justice. A year later, she was appointed Magistrate and rose to become a High Court judge in 2006.

She is a member of various professional bodies and held numerous positions. She is a member of the Magistrate Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Chairperson, Kano Chapter 1990 – 1992, among others.

Justice Dije Aboki is the pretty wife of Hon. Justice Abdu Aboki, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and mother to five children (three who are lawyers).
