FULL LIST OF LAGOS 10TH ASSEMBLY AS OBASA RETURNS AS SPEAKER FOR THE THIRD TERM
On the 6th June 2023, Lagos State House of Assembly inaugurate the 10th House of Assembly and Chief Mudashiru Obasa representing Agege constituency 1 was unanimously returned as the Speaker of the tenth Lagos State Assembly. The position he held for three consecutive terms.
He was nominated by Mr. Temitope Adewale (Ifako-Ijaiye 1) and seconded by Mr. Sylvester Ogunkelu (Epe 2).
Chief Obasa is the longest-serving member of the Assembly having been elected for a sixth term.
While Mrs Mojisola Lasbat Meranda representing Apapa constituency one has been elected deputy speaker. She is a three (3) term member of the House. She was the erstwhile Chief Whip of the House.
Mrs Meranda was nominated by Mr. Desmond Elliot (Surulere 1) and seconded by Mr Tijani Suraj representing Ojo constituency two.
Hon. Noheem Adams representing Eti-Osa Constituency 1 was the Deputy Majority Leader in the ninth Assembly, he was elected as the new Majority Leader while Hon. Adedamola Kasunmu representing Ikeja 2 was elected the Deputy Majority Leader.
Hon. Mojeed Fatai of Ibeju Lekki 1 was elected as the Chief Whip while Hon. David Setonji representing Badagry Constituency 2 was elected the Deputy Chief Whip.
The election of the speaker and the deputy speaker followed the proclamation of the tenth assembly by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The 10th Lagos State House of Assembly, which comprises 40 members, is dominated by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC which has 38 members while the Labour Party has two members.
20 of the lawmakers are returning while the other 20 are first-term lawmakers.
