IMPROVED POLICING SYSTEM: IGP ORDERS TRAINING OF CADETS ON RUDIMENTS OF FIRST AID FOR SAFETY, REDUCED OPERATIONAL HAZARDS

In what could be tagged a ground-breaking move by the Nigeria Police Force to improve its personnel in all areas of operational engagements, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the First Aid Unit of the Nigeria Police Medical Services, to provide basic First Aid skills to the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, to prepare and equip them with the requisite knowledge and skills in saving and preserving the lives of their colleagues, families, friends and the general public in cases of emergencies.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the training, as approved by the IGP, was flagged off at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, on 11th May 2023, has a module which covers the following topics: Operational Communication, Safety and Security, Recovery Position, Full Body Examination, Triaging, Combat Trauma Care among others.
The training was a 3-day lecture series with practical demonstrations and issuance of some basic First Aid kits to some of the cadets for use.
