BRIG. GEN. EDET TAKES OVER 9 BRIGADE AS BRIG. GEN. AKPAUMONTIA HEAD 12 BRIGADE LOKOJA

While Brig. Gen. Isangubong E. Akpaumontia handed over Headquarters 9 Brigade Nigeria Amy, Ikeja to Brigadier General Nsikak J. Edet. It was gathered that Brig. Gen. Isangubong E. Akpaumontia had been posted to Nigerian Army 12 Brigade, Lokoja to succeed his successor Brig. Gen Nsikak J. Edet.
In his farewell address to the junior officers at the parade ground, Brig. Gen Akpaumontia advised them to stay out of trouble and that they should do what they are supposed to do in time, so they do not get into troubles capable of affecting their careers in the force. Saying, If they do the right thing, they won't need to say 'abeg, meaning I am sorry'.
He assured them that the electricity supply would soon be improved in the barracks but advised them and their family members to always switch off electric bulbs when they are not in use during the day and desist from using electric burners.
During the address, he introduced the new Commander to the soldiers “A new commander is here. He is Brig. Gen. Nsikak John Edet. Soon, he will have time with you.
Stating that “Remember that discipline is our bedrock. Indiscipline is a no-no in the military. Always abide by the rules of our beloved military. We will meet again even if I am not in this infantry,” Gen Akpaumontia reiterated.
The impact and developmental initiative of Brig. Gen. Akpaumontia during his stay at the command can't be forgotten, he brought a lot of developmental ideas to the brigade which include the facelifting of modest infrastructures, the construction of Hippo Fountain and the mascot of the brigade.
Others included blocks of classrooms added to make learning enjoyable for the children in the school as well as solar-powered street lights within the Brigade premises.
In his remarks, Brig Gen Nsikak Edet while appreciating his predecessor and his successor at Nigerian Army 12 Brigade, Lokoja, he said, that his mission at the Nigerian Army 9 Brigade, Ikeja is to work assiduously with the troops to ensure that the mission of the Army is achieved.
According to him, “There is no substitute for hard work and prayers. I want to implore you all to remain good officers and don’t hesitate when called upon to contribute to the well-being of the country. Be professional in your conduct and don’t do anything that will bring disrepute to the name of the Nigerian Army.
Thank the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya for finding him deserving to become the Commander of the 9 Brigade, a place where he started his military career as a Second Lieutenant in 1994 when it was the 19 Battalion then adding that coming back as the Commander brings some nostalgic feelings.
