NEWS: LAGOS STATE POLICE COMMAND PARADE 42 SUSPECTED CULTISTS, AS HE SENDS A STRONG SIGNAL TO OTHERS

The Lagos State Police Command has paraded 42 suspects who were detained for a variety of criminal offences, including cultism and illicit firearm manufacturing.

The state's Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, revealed this during the parade of suspected cult members on Wednesday and stated that his agency was prepared to crack down on cultists and illegal gun makers in the state.

The 42 suspected cultists were apprehended by the anti-cultism operatives during operations in Orile, Ijora, Ebute-Metta and Ikorodu, according to the police boss.

CP Owphunwa while briefing the newsmen, said “We have decided not to arrest cultists alone but to also go after the fabricators of local arms, they used to nip attacks on innocent people or their perceived enemies in the bud.”

He further said "We intend to carry out the battle to their doorsteps or their enclaves. As we will deploy every asset within our disposal and deny them space to operate in the state. So, we are advising them to form a new leaf or face the wrath of the Police.

“We want to remain steps ahead of them to restore peace in Lagos. Through the officers deployed for the operation within the first two weeks, we have made significant breakthroughs which are worthy of notification for members of the public.” CP Owohunwa also said.

He said that "during the operation, a total of 10 arms of different sorts were recovered from the cultists, including; six locally made shotguns, three constructed semi-automatic pistols, and one English made pistol. thirteen live rounds, three knives, three cutlasses, three daggers, and other charms.

"Am using this medium to warn the cultists in the state to desist from committing a crime because our strategy is to prevent cultism before it takes hold, so we will utilize all of our special intelligence and operational resources to combat it. And I'll provide them with the leadership support they need to continue fighting the cultists who are endangering the nation's internal security. My fight against cultists is in line with the promise I made to Lagosian.

The CP assured that “The Lagos State Command under my watch will deny them the space with a forceful manner. I want to assure the residents that we are not going to relent.”

He reassures Lagos residents that the battle to rid the state of cultists and other criminals is a promise that must be fulfilled.
Appealing to the members of the public for their support as this battle against cultists and other criminals is a common battle.
