Niagara Falls is a group of three waterfalls at the southern end of Niagara Gorge, spanning the border between the province of Ontario in Canada and the state of New York in the United States. It was incorporated on 12th June 1903.
And in 1970, the Niagara regional government was formed. The region consists of eight Councillors and a Mayor. The City elections take place every four years. George Hanan was the first city Mayor of Niagara Falls, and he was appointed in 1904 while Jim Diodati is the twenty-third City Mayor and the long-serving mayor to occupy the position. He assumed office on the 1st of December 2010 at the age of 45 years.
Jim Diodati is a Canadian politician, who is currently serving as Mayor of the City of Niagara Falls, Canada. Before his election to the mayoralty, he had served as the City Councilor for two terms. He was elected in 2010 as the 23rd City Mayor of Niagara Falls, having defeated the incumbent Mayor Ted Salci. In 2014, he was re-elected with more than 80% of the vote and in 2018, although, he was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and underwent extensive chemotherapy that year, he still won his reelection bid.

He operates a web-based health and wellness direct marketing business. He has an extensive volunteer history, including serving on Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) Accommodation Review Committee and its Vision 20/20 Advisory Committee. Furthermore, he also established the 'Sleep Cheap, Charities Reap' fundraising event, which has raised more than $1.8M for local charities.

He has used his unrivalled innovative style of 'politainment' to reinvent what it is to be mayor. He has been at the helm of critical change-driving projects which have forever transformed the face of the City and will leave a legacy for generations of people.
Likewise, he and his wife, Yvonne (Benyo) Diodati have three children.
