Ahead of the senatorial election across Nigeria, there is no gainsaying that the forthcoming 2023 general election is going to be a business as usual mostly in the Oyo central senatorial districts of Oyo State due to the calibre of personalities in the senatorial race. Recently, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released not less than 10 names of politicians eyeing to represent their various political parties come February 2023.

One of the leading senatorial candidates in the race is Dr Yunus Abiodun Akintunde, an Energy and Environment expert, a former commissioner for works and Transport, a Statesman and a frontline Oyo Central Senatorial candidate in the forthcoming 2023 elections.

Oyo state, known as Pace Setter State is made up of three senatorial districts, 14 Federal constituencies, 32 state constituencies and 33 local government areas. The senatorial districts are Oyo North, Oyo South and Oyo Central, made up of 13,9 and 11 local government Areas respectively. Oyo Central is one of the most important senatorial districts in the Southwestern part of Nigeria with Six Private Universities and Three specialized Institutions (Federal College of Education (Special), International Institute of Tropical Agriculture and The Federal School of Survey.  The senatorial district comprised Afijio, Akinyele, Atiba, Egbeda, Ogo-Oluwa, Oluyole, Ona-Ara, Oyo East, Oyo West, and Surulere Local Government Areas.

HIS POLITICAL JOURNEY
Dr. Yunus Akintunde started his political journey over 3 decades ago in Oyo state. And his Grassroots personality and love for his people had earned him several political appointments both at the state and federal levels. He once served as Commissioner at Oyo state Civil Service Commission 1999-2003 during the late Dr Lam Adesina's administration. He was the Commissioner for Works and Transport of Oyo state 2011-2012 and Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo state 2014-2015 during the late Senator Ajumobi's administration. In 2014, He was the Chairman of, the APC State Registration Committee for Osun state. He was also Chairman of, the APC State Congress Committee for Kwara State, and a member of, the APC House of Representatives (Serving member) Aspirants Screening Committee. He contested and won the APC tickets to emerge as the Oyo Central Senatorial candidate come 2023.

HIS CONTRIBUTIONS
His contributions and community responsibility cuts across Oyo central senatorial districts have contributed immensely to the development and economy of the pace-setter state of Oyo state. His track record as Commissioner for works and transportation, Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo state and Commissioner of Oyo state Civil Service Commission place him above other candidates in the senatorial race come to the 2023 general election.


His Community and Social Responsibility at the federal college of Education, where he facilitates; the building of the Vocational and Technical Education, the Student affairs complex,  500-seater lecture theatre I & II, Construction of Roads and Drainages, Indoor Sports Complex, Guidance and Counselling Building, among Others

Aside from that, he was a major facilitator of Solar Powered Street Light, The Construction of a block of 3 classrooms with a borehole and toilet, the Construction of a block of 2 classrooms with an office and store, and Solar Powered Borehole, among others were some of the projects facilitated by Dr Yunsus Akintunde to all local government council in his senatorial districts.
