The Hero Magazine international and the outstanding leadership award platform have not failed to appreciate the effort of some prominent Sons and daughters of Ondo State who have contributed to the growth of their immediate community, local government, and state and national development.
The 15th edition of the prestigious Ondo state outstanding personalities of the year award took place at the capital city of Ondo State, Akure at the De-Dome international event centre on 18th September 2022.
This year’s recipients were considered due to their hard work, developmental initiative, tenacity and philanthropic acts. They have not only made remarkable career achievements but also valuable contributions to the nation’s economy.
The awardees include HRM Oba Ajibola Raphael Oluyede, Alayede of the Ayede Ogbese Kingdom who was honoured as Ondo state outstanding traditional ruler of the year, High Chief Olaniyi Alaba Netufo, first executive director of corporate services, rural electrification agency, Abuja. He was honoured with the award of Ondo State personality of the year award, Prince Festus Kayode Idepefo SAN, he was honoured Ondo state legal Icon of the year, Engineer Orire Endurance, project monitoring officer at the Niger Delta development commission (NDDC) and currently working with one of the IOCs as a certified maintenance and reliability professional ( Gas to liquid-GTL), he was honoured as Ondo state outstanding visionary leader of excellence, Prince Jimi Odimayo, he was honoured as Ondo state outstanding philanthropist of the year, Agbaka Afolabi Obasuyi, he was honoured as Ondo state outstanding community development influencer of the year, Prince Soji Ehinlanwo, he was honoured as Ondo state selfless service delivery of the year, Hon Aboyomi Babatunde Akinruntan, he was honoured as Ondo state grassroots capacity developer of the year, Chief Kemini Doubra, he was honoured as Ondo state young achiever of the year, High Chief Ajube Ibiboprie, he was honoured as Ondo state outstanding security man of the year, Tomola Sam Ajimuda, he was honoured as Ondo state business entrepreneur of the year, Hon Ade Adeogun, he was honoured as Ondo state outstanding legislator of the year, High Chief Benjamin Olomidegun, he was honoured as Ondo state outstanding human capacity developer of the year, Engineer Kolade Oyinbo, he was awarded as Ondo state oil and gas man of the year, Kayode Akinwalere, he was honoured as Ondo state diaspora oil and gas man of the year, Dr Tola Awosika, he was honoured as Ondo state outstanding politician of the year and the only organizer that was honoured ST Jacobs hotels and suites, the management was honoured as most outstanding hospitality/industry hotel of the year.
The publisher of the hero magazine, and organizer of the award, Dr Sunday Akinbiola said these men were chosen because they have been seen to have excelled in their different areas of calling and by all standards they deserve to be honoured.
He also made it clear to the public that no dissenting voice was recorded among the panellist that was saddled with the responsibility of ratifying the list of these men of substance. He, therefore, congratulate them for being worthy ambassadors of their state.
Comrade Jeffery Abidoye who stood in for the chairman of the day Hon. Barr. Ademola Adegoroye, minister of state for transport, said the award is an indication that the recipient has done a lot in society.
Also, he commended the organizers of the event for their consistency in honouring outstanding personalities in the state every year and for their good work. He further charged the general public present not to give up in Nigeria.
‘’Of all the countries in the world, none is as blessed the way we are in this nation; We might not be where we want to be, but we are not where we use to be; the future of the nation is in our hands and I believe that the world is coming to celebrate Nigeria so therefore, we shouldn’t give up’’. He added
The climax of the event was the award ceremony and the investiture as Ondo stated outstanding personalities of the year.
While giving the closing remark, the representative of the governor Hon. Bamidele Ologun, the honourable commissioner for youth and sports development congratulated all the awardees and also thanked the organizers for a good job and also for employing the indigene of Ondo state in their establishment adding that it’s what Mr Governor loves so much.
The event had in attendance the vice chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA) Prof Olugbenga Ige who delivered a lecture titled ‘’Better policies, better living conditions’’, His imperial majesty Oba Oluwasegun Williams Akinyomi (Alagwe VII) the Amapetu of Mahin kingdom,
Also in attendance to add colour to the event were Demola Suzi, the De Emerald team, led by icon Gbenga Obagbemi, the group that presented the national anthem excellently and the Yoruba cultural group.
It was an amazing time for all awardees and guests who were present at the event.
