NEWS: FIBAN SET TO PARTNER AMOTEKUN IN PROMOTING CORPS'S ACTIVITIES


The Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria, FIBAN, Ondo state chapter have promised to partner with the Ondo State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps in promoting activities of the corp in fighting insecurity in the state during their visit to Amotekun headquarter in Akure, Ondo state.

Chairman of FIBAN, Ondo State Chapter, Comrade Femi Oguntuase, who stated this during the courtesy visit to the state commandant of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, where he led a delegation of leaders of the association on a visit, said the association is aware of the war being waged against insecurity by the corps in and outside the state. And its readiness to let the world know about it.


Oguntuase, who extolled the virtues of the Amotekun commandant, praised Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for appointing a qualified person to head the security outfit.

He said “We are glad the governor chose a competent man to head this organization and it is evident in how you have been running the affairs of the outfit since inception. We are aware of all you have been doing, however, there is the need to let our people know all you do and how to support you. This, we will do as a body.”

The broadcaster added that the association will honour and celebrate the commandant for the giant strides he has made in protecting the lives and property of residents of Ondo state. 


A member of the Board of Trustees of the association, Chief Tomogun Olubunmi, former National Vice President of the association, Ambassador Segun Babs-Babayemi and former National General Secretary of the association, Dr King Adenuga, highlighted some achievements of the corps and called for a synergy to ensure the corps's activities, objectives and needs from the society are well documented and showcased to the world through a dedicated radio programme for the corps. 

Responding, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, while appreciating members of FIBAN for the visit, said he recognises their roles in society and will never look down on any media professional. 

In his words “Members of your association play a vital role in society. We appreciate what you do, and we will never take it for granted. I assure you of our support and collaboration in ensuring that the society gets to know more about our activities through your members.”

“About the Amotekun radio programme, let us sit together and look at it. We are not a money-making venture, but we will find a way to support such a programme to get our people informed of our activities and let them know security measures to put in place to keep themselves safe.

“Amotekun is ours, and we must all join hands in protecting and promoting it to achieve the aims for which it was established.”

Others on the FIBAN visitation team are Chief Dauda Tijani Ahmed, Comrade Monday Bello and Rahaman Adekunle Yusuf.
