.....Chief Olu Joseph Toriola, Otun Balogun of Modakeke should not distrupt the peace of the community.
Modakeke is an ancient town in Osun State that her population stands at close to Four hundred thousand people, they are predominantly farmers and warriors, the community was founded in 1845, though has been in existence since 1834 after the fall Oyo empire by the Fulanis.HISTORY OF ASCENDANCY OF OGUNSUA OF MODAKEKE STOOL
There has been no controversy as to who should ascend the throne of the Ogunsua of Modakeke from time immemorial, the orderly succession by promotion in order of seniority of the titled holders is exactly like that of Ibadan in Oyo State and Ode-omu in Osun State, what Chief Olu Joseph Toriola and his Co travellers are trying to do may tamper with the peace of the community.
WHY IS CHIEF OLU JOSEPH TORIOLA DESPERATE TO BE KING? The
In 2018 when it was the turn of Chief Oladejo Oyediran to be promoted to the throne from Balogun, Chief Toriola was opposed to it on the ground of health issues, he said Baba was not fit because of ear ailment to which comes with old age, his beeing over ambitious almost cost the community the relative piece as the youths of the community had to beat up the Senior Chief, cut his royalty bead before peace returned to the palace and the community.
Shortly after the demise of the late Ogunsua, the same Chief Toriola has started another campaign of calumny against the next Ogunsua Chief John Adeboye Okunola who is currently the Balogun of Modakeke by sponsoring some disgruntled elements within the community to announce his passing away, this was sold to the people in the community until recently that, some youths in the community visited Baba and discovered that Baba was alive and in good health, this is currently causing dissatisfaction between the youths and elders of the community. What is the plight of Ibadan and Ode-omu that's is not applicable to Modakeke? The tradition and history of Modakeke predated the stool of Ogunsua because unlike the ruling houses arrangement, the community is made up of an aggregate of people who have agreed _(ogun-suwa-po)_ to have an orderly succession by promotion in order of seniority of the titled holders.
Chief Toriola is Otun Balogun to the Balogun of Modakeke which presupposes that he is junior in rank to the current Balogun and the Ogunsua elect by promotion, i.e.Chief John Adeboye Okunola. The same process has produced the past traditional rulers and the immediate past Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Oladejo Oyediran.
Chief Toriola should therefore desist from his efforts at uttering our traditional arrangements that has been in existence before majority of the descendants of the ancient town, including him were born.
